Sister Joan Noreen was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, and is the second in a family of eight brothers and sisters. A strong family and parish devotion to the Eucharist and to Mary, the Mother of God, profoundly effected her faith development. Her religious vocation was nurtured through her parents, her parish of Holy Angels in West Oak Lane, Philadelphia, and the many women religious who influenced her during elementary and high school years.
After graduating from Chestnut Hill College, Sister Joan studied at Saint Charles Seminary School of Religious Studies, Overbrook, PA, where she received her Master’s Degree in Religious Studies and Sacred Scripture. She also earned a Master’s Degree in Formative Spirituality from the Institute of Formative Spirituality of Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, PA.
In 1978, Sister Joan Noreen founded Our Lady's Missionaries of the Eucharist in the Diocese of Arlington, VA. Today, OLME has growing communities in the archdioceses of Newark and Philadelphia, and in the diocese of Allentown, PA, where Sister Joan now resides. Members of OLME are Catholic men and women, married and single, who represent a broad spectrum of professional expertise, and are exceptionally dedicated to their Catholic faith and their own ongoing spiritual formation.
In the Jubilee Year 2000, Sister Joan founded the Spirituality Evangelization Academy in direct response to the call of Pope John Paul II for a new evangelization, and to the mandate of Jesus Christ to "Go make disciples of all nations".
Sister Joan can be seen weekly on Eternal Word Television Network hosting her series, Eucharistic Journey. She has published numerous audio CDs addressing topics about the spiritual development of the laity.
